First Kristen Wiig and now Andy Samberg? Saturday Night Live has lost two incredibly funny cast members. Rumors have been circling for months about whether or not Andy would return and now it’s official. On the season finale, when Kristen said goodbye, Samberg seemed to do a little foreshadowing on the digital short “Lazy Sunday 2”. “On these New York streets I hone my fake rap penmanship,” he rapped. “That’s how it began, and that’s how I’m-a finish it.” Like Wiig, Samberg’s departure comes after seven seasons on the show. “It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life,” Samberg told the New York Times Friday. “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back.” Meanwhile, Jason Sudeikis is also rumored to be leaving the show but no official word has come yet.
Kristen Wiig Says Goodbye to SNL
It’s official: Kristen Wiig will no longer return to Saturday Night Live. Confirming the news that the Bridesmaids star would say goodbye when the 37th season ended, cast members gave her an emotional sendoff at the end of the show. After 7 years on the show, first time host Mick Jagger kicked off the musicial truibute to Wiig. It first began as a high school graduation skit but then Mick, as the principal, started talking about saying goodbye to a particular student. Wiig then stood up and removed her graduation gown and began dancing with her cast members (Amy Poehler and Rachel Dratch also appeared) as Arcade Fire played “She’s Like a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones. Its been a great 7 years and I will definitely miss Kristen on SNL. It won’t be the same without her.
