Official Catching Fire Casting News

It’s official, Catching Fire has found it’s Finnick! The rumors that began months ago that British actor Sam Claflin would be playing District 4 tribute Finnick Odair can now be confirmed as true with Lionsgate sealed the deal. Claflin who has been in major movies such as this summer’s Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides beat out other big names the likes of Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, and Garrett Hedlund who all at one point were rumored to be up for the job. And it seems as if he’ll not only appear in Catching Fire, but seemingly both installments of the now-split Mockingjay finale to the Hunger Games Series. Catching Fire hits theaters Nov. 22, 2013.

Casting Catching Fire’s Finnick

Casting Catching Fire's FinnickThe Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire is that much closer to casting the role for Finnick Odair. Robert Pattinson recently told USA Today that rumors he was in talks to play Finnick are not true. So who else is in the running? Lionsgate has narrowed down the choices to just 3 actors: Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, and Garrett Hedlund. But rumors are abound that the studio may also be looking at a unknown actor to play the role. Reps for each of the three actors could not be reached for comment. Another rumor claims that a final decision from the studio could be announced as early as this week but a rep from Lionsgate said, “As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce.”

Which of the three would you like to see cast or do you think someone else entirely should snag the role?
