After months and months of waiting, speculation and casting rumors the film adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey finally cast its lead roles. James herself announced the news this morning via her her twitter that Dakota Johnson would take on the role of Anastasia Steele and Charlie Hunnam would star opposite as Christian Grey. Her tweet read “I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey”. A later second tweet read; “The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.” Dakota, who is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, is best known for her starring role on the now cancelled Fox sitcom Ben & Kate and also had roles in The Five-Year Engagement and 21 Jump Street. Hunnam, who stars on Sons of Anarchy as Jax Teller has also had previous roles in Pacific Rim and Deadfall.
Ryan Gosling as Christian Grey?
Rumors have been buzzing around that Ryan Gosling is the No. 1 choice for the lead role in the Fifty Shades of Grey big screen adaptation. Author E.L. James’ husband Niall Leonard tells the U.K’s Now magazine that the “last he heard” Gosling is the No. 1 choice to play Christian Grey. As per usual the 31 year old hunky actor’s rep has not commented on the casting rumors. Ever since the new broke that Fifty Shades would be turned into a movie the internet has been buzzing with possible casting ideas including Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder who has publicly expressed interest in playing the lead role. Despite all the rumors surrounding who would play Christian Grey there has been little rumors about who would be cast as the lead female role of Anastasia Steele. Official Catching Fire Casting News!
It’s official, Catching Fire has found it’s Finnick! The rumors that began months ago that British actor Sam Claflin would be playing District 4 tribute Finnick Odair can now be confirmed as true with Lionsgate sealed the deal. Claflin who has been in major movies such as this summer’s Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides beat out other big names the likes of Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, and Garrett Hedlund who all at one point were rumored to be up for the job. And it seems as if he’ll not only appear in Catching Fire, but seemingly both installments of the now-split Mockingjay finale to the Hunger Games Series. Catching Fire hits theaters Nov. 22, 2013.
Fifty Shades of Grey Casting Rumors
The search for the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele continues. Numerous celeb names keep getting added to the mix of those already out such as Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, and Ian Somerhalder. New notables include Emma Watson, William Levy, and even Angelina Jolie. Both Watson and Levy have spoken out about the rumors. Watson told Entertainment Weekly, “I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing. There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo—I never even saw a script!” Meanwhile Levy spke to Celebuzz and said, “If the opportunity comes for me to play this role, it would be amazing. It’s a great book…[and] every day I hear about it. I see the fans saying it all over. I would play it. I would love to do it. We’ve just got to see.” Jolie has yet to make a comment.
Catching Fire Casting News
The Hunger Games‘ sequel Catching Fire has yet to officially cast for the role of Finnick Odair but if recent rumors are true then the role of Plutarch Heavensbee may be filled by Philip Seymour Hoffman. The rumors state that Hoffman received the offer on Monday and is going from playing Willy Loman in the Broadway revivial of Death of a Salesmen to playing the new Head Gamemaker taking over for Seneca Crane, played by Wes Bentley. A rep for the studio declined to comment on the casting news but if negotiations go smoothly then Hoffman will be joining Jennifer Lawrence, new director Francis Lawrence, and the rest of the cast when filming starts in September.
Casting Catching Fire’s Finnick
The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire is that much closer to casting the role for Finnick Odair. Robert Pattinson recently told USA Today that rumors he was in talks to play Finnick are not true. So who else is in the running? Lionsgate has narrowed down the choices to just 3 actors: Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, and Garrett Hedlund. But rumors are abound that the studio may also be looking at a unknown actor to play the role. Reps for each of the three actors could not be reached for comment. Another rumor claims that a final decision from the studio could be announced as early as this week but a rep from Lionsgate said, “As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce.”

Robsten Caught Kissing in Cannes
The never offically confirmed yet so obvious couple Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were caught kissing, cuddling and just being overall adorable last night at the Cannes Film Festival. The two were spotted having a private moment on the balcony at the after-party for Kristen’s new movie On the Road which premiered at the film festival yesterday. At one point you can see Rob kiss Kristen on the forehead and then he rests his forehead on her shoulder while she puts her hand on his neck.At the premiere Rob walked the red carpet to support his girl who instead walked the red carpet with her costars including Garret Hedlund, Sam Riley, Tom Sturridge, and Vigo Mortenson among others. Inside the screening itself, Kristen remained with her costars who sat in a row alltogether while Rob sat in the row in front of them. Kristen will reportedly show her support for her man and his film Cosmopolis that will also premiere at the film festival this Friday. Here’s hoping that we’ll get pics of Kristen walking his red carpet and maybe some pic of the two of them at his after-party.
